Synopsis

A guided tour dedicated to the Baroque style in the rooms of the Piano Nobile of the Royal Palace, exploring the state rooms, embellished with frescoes, gilded stucco, furnishings, and lavish decorations that illustrate the artistic and political language through which the House of Savoy, between the 17th and 18th centuries, established its prestige among the great European courts. The tour highlights the spectacular Galleria del Daniel overlooking the Royal Gardens, the dramatic Scala delle Forbici designed by Filippo Juvarra, and the refined Chinese Cabinet—an expression of the 18th-century fascination with the East—before concluding in Guarino Guarini’s extraordinary Chapel of the Shroud, one of the greatest masterpieces of European Baroque architecture.
